On a phone you can turn tracks up and down, Solo and Mute. EQ, effects and recording are on a computer.

Dub desk · sound check: step 1 mixer + step 2 effects

Mock-up 172 playing for real: the riddim from its listening copies (the AAC pieces and the Phase 0 engine). What is lit in yellow plays; faded parts are later steps and stay silent. Your mix is kept on this computer (in the real step 1 build it saves to your account). Use headphones or good speakers.

The phone gets volume, Solo and Mute only.

Decided 25 Oct, and still open

  1. Decided: Mute and Solo work the desk way (both can be on, Mute wins), and the faderBack player changes to match in step 1's release. The big view on the right is called the detail view. The 8th family is Vocals & FX (pink). Every track has a colour button (picking a colour moves it into that subgroup) and tracks and subgroups can be renamed. Where the sound goes out is chosen on the master.
  2. The Program EQ is in the Inserts list, so it works before the channel EQ and can sit on any channel, subgroup or the master, the way a real one is patched in. Say if you would rather have it as a third EQ type next to Graphic and 3-band.
  3. Bar 1 is guessed from the Kick's first hit (the spec's rule). In a one-drop the kick plays on beat 3, so the guess can be half a bar late: open Bar grid, switch the click on and drag Bar 1 onto the first downbeat. Tell Claude whether the guess was right.
