Mix Sessions
A mixing lesson built around your own song. Play us your mix and we'll tell you what we'd change and why — then you make the change and hear it work. Your session, your faders, our ears.
You leave knowing why
Most feedback tells you what to do: cut this, turn that down. A Mix Session explains the reason behind every change, on your own track, while you hear the difference happen. The fix helps this song. The why helps every song after it.
What actually happens
We see your screen and hear your DAW live, in real time. You describe what is bothering you, or just play it and let us find it. Then we work: why the drums aren't hitting, where the bass is fighting the kick, what to do with a vocal that won't sit, how to make a dub worth releasing.
You drive. We can take your cursor when it is quicker to show than to explain, with your permission, and you can take it back or disconnect at any moment. Making the changes with your own hands is what makes the lesson stick — you don't leave with a session somebody else fixed.
Mastering works the same way. Bring a finished mix instead of a rough one and we'll master it together — loudness, tone, the low end, how it will translate on a phone and on a club system — and you'll hear why each move matters. Tell us which you want when you book. One thing to get right first: bounce with headroom and take any limiter off your master bus, because a mix that is already squashed can't be mastered. The setup page walks through it.
Book a session
Before we start
- Install SonoBus — it's free — and put the plugin on your master bus. That is how we hear your session, straight out of your DAW.
- Have your project open at the part you want to work on.
- Install getscreen.me when we send the link, so we can see your screen.
Full instructions are on the setup page and arrive again with your booking confirmation. Setup usually takes five to fifteen minutes and happens inside the session — so the quicker we connect, the more time we have to work.
Studio troubleshooting isn't what a Mix Session is for. If we can't get connected, we'll spend the time listening to a bounce you send over and you'll still get the notes — the session is never wasted.
What this isn't
It isn't us taking your files away and mixing them — that's Mixing, and it's quoted separately. It isn't a written critique you read later; that's a Mix Review. And it isn't IT support for your studio.
And it isn't a promise of a finished record. A session is working time, not a delivery — how far we get depends on the track, and you'll leave knowing what to change and why rather than with a signed-off master. If what you actually want is the whole thing done for you, that's Mixing and Mastering, and we'd rather point you there than have you book the wrong thing.
