Mixing, Mastering, Mix Review and Custom Riddim Terms
Last updated 9 October 2026 (section 4: if we don’t hear back after a preview).
These terms apply when you order mixing, mastering or a Mix Review from riddimBank (“we”, “us”) using the order forms on our mixing, mastering and Mix Review and custom riddims pages. By ticking “I agree” on the form, you accept them. Questions are welcome at info@riddimbank.com.
1. The estimate and the quote
The form shows an estimate. After we listen to your files, we email you a price and a schedule within 2 business days. You pay nothing until you have that price. If it is different from the estimate, we tell you why, and you decide whether to go ahead. For mixing, well-recorded, well-performed, well-edited tracks can bring it down; for mastering, well-mixed tracks can. Extra versions (instrumental, a cappella, TV mix) and anything else you ask for are priced in the quote.
If you change the order after we quote (more songs, extra versions, new or replacement files), we will quote the change before doing the work.
We may decline any project, before or after listening, without giving a reason. If we decline, you owe nothing and we delete your files as described in section 9.
If we cannot do your job ourselves, we may offer you another engineer we trust, at their price. Nothing changes unless you agree, and you can say no.
2. Payment
Half of the quoted price is due before work begins. The balance is due after you have heard a lower-resolution preview of the mixes, and before we deliver the final files. Prices are in US dollars. Prices are listed on the individual service pages. The price that applies is the one shown when you place your order. We schedule the work once the first payment arrives, so a late payment moves the delivery date.
3. Your files
Please prepare your files as the form describes. We work with what you send: problems recorded into the files themselves (distortion, noise, timing, missing parts) can only be improved as far as the recording allows. Keep your own copy of everything you send us; we are not a backup service.
For mixing, we edit your tracks (pitch correction, timing, clean-up) only as far as your answer to “May we edit your tracks?” allows. For mastering, we work on the stereo mixes you send and do not change the mixes themselves.
4. Adjustments
One round of adjustments per song is included: listen, then send all your notes together. Technical problems on our side (clicks, dropouts, a wrong file format) are always fixed at no charge. Further rounds, or a new direction after the mix is done (for example a different reference track), are quoted separately.
If we don’t hear back. After we send you a preview, please listen and then approve it or send your notes within 14 days. If we hear nothing, we email you a reminder after 7 days and again after 12 days. If there is still no reply 14 days after the preview, the preview counts as approved: the balance becomes due (section 2) and we send the balance invoice. The 14 days start again with each new version. Technical problems on our side are still fixed at no charge after that.
5. Delivery
We deliver the final mixes or masters by download link, in the formats you chose, once the balance is paid. Delivery dates are our best estimate; if one is going to slip, we will tell you as soon as we know. A rush may carry a rush charge, agreed in the quote.
6. Who owns what
You keep all rights in your songs, recordings and performances. Once you have paid in full, the final mixes or masters we deliver are yours to release, with no royalty or further payment to us. Previews, test press files and unpaid work may not be released.
We never play, share or post your music, or use it to promote our work, without your written permission.
7. Your promises
By ordering, you confirm that you own the recordings or have permission from everyone who does (artists, musicians, producers, labels) to have them mixed, and that the music does not infringe anyone else’s rights. Clearing any samples is your responsibility.
8. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time by email. If we have not started work, we refund the first payment in full. Once work has started, we keep the first payment for the work done, you owe nothing more, and no mixes are delivered. If we cannot finish a job for any reason of our own, we refund what you paid for the work not delivered.
9. Deleting your files
Your files are stored privately and only we can open them.
If we do not take the job, we delete your files from our online storage and delete our own copies and backups.
When the job is finished, we delete your files from our online storage and keep an archive copy of the project on two of our own storage drives, which are not connected to the internet. We keep it only so we can help if you need your files again in the future. It is never shared, played or used without your written permission. You can ask us at any time to delete the archive, and we will confirm when it is done.
Either way, we email you a deletion receipt listing every file removed from our online storage. Once everything is deleted we cannot send the files, mixes or masters again, so keep your own copies of everything we deliver.
10. Limits
Our total responsibility for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not responsible for indirect losses such as lost income or a missed release date. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law that cannot be limited.
11. Disagreements
If something goes wrong, email us first and we will try to put it right. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute that cannot be settled will be handled by the courts of San Diego County, California.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to that order.
13. Mix review
A Mix Review is a fixed price per song, paid in full before we start. There is no deposit and no estimate: sections 1 and 2 do not apply. We do not need to hear your mix first; whatever state it is in, you get useful notes.
A Mix Review is advice, not a mix: we do not change or return your files. You receive written notes and an invite to a private review space on NoteTracks, where our comments sit on your song’s timeline. You log in to see it; we never share your song on a public link. Adjustment rounds (section 4) do not apply.
Sections 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 apply to a Mix Review as they do to mixing and mastering.
14. Custom riddims
A custom riddim is an original instrumental we build for your song, delivered as individual 24-bit / 48 kHz multitrack files. The price includes up to seven instruments (drums: live for Reggae, programmed for Dancehall; bass; percussion; bubble; piano skank; guitar skank; keyboard overdubs); leaving any of them out does not change the price. Extras (guitar pick, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, guitar solos, guitar riffs and others) are quoted before we start.
Exclusive: the riddim is yours alone. We will not sell, license or use it anywhere else.
Shared: you may use the riddim in the same way, and riddimBank may also add the instrumental multitracks to its catalogue after six months, or once your song is released if that is sooner. You receive no credit or payment from catalogue sales. Your vocals, your lyrics and your song are never included and always stay yours.
Drums first: we build the drum track and send it to you before anything else. Once you approve it, we add the other instruments.
Half the price is due before we start and the balance after you hear the finished riddim (section 2). One round of changes to the finished riddim is included (section 4). Your riddim takes about two weeks from the first payment; we will tell you if that changes.
15. Musicians for Hire
You send us your track and tell us which parts you need (drums, bass, keys, guitar, percussion, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, backing vocals or another part). Each part is priced per song. We listen first and send an invoice; if we cannot do the job, we tell you and delete your files.
Half the price is due before we start and the balance after you hear the parts (section 2). One round of changes is included (section 4). The parts take about a week from the first payment; we will tell you if that changes.
You receive each part as its own 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV file, starting at the top of your song.
